In this project I decided to explore the theme ‘home’ in relation to my home, Ireland. Because of the environmental nature of solar panels, I wanted to explore the flora and fauna in Ireland that benefit from the clean energy provided. The Hare being one of the national symbols of Ireland seemed appropriate and relevant to the theme.

I drew inspiration from a story found in Irish folklore that described the bad luck that occurs from a hare being killed before sunrise and the theme of luck from a hare being killed in sunlight. I enjoyed the running theme of sunlight between the hare and the solar panel. As a result, my piece is a representation of the bizarre relationship between the hare and sun.
